WELCOME TO
SHAWNA'S WOOD GARDEN!!!
This is a place where many beautiful things grow... from plain pieces of wood arise beautiful pieces of art. I take great pride in all of
my creations; often putting many long hours into just one piece of work. Several of my creations are so unique and original…
you will
not find anything like them elsewhere!
I create wooden boxes, picture frames, miniature
victorian doll house furniture in various sizes and scales, children's wooden puzzles, name signs, wall plaques, wooden crosses, ornaments, and MANY more exquisite specialty items. Although many woodworkers build large
pieces of furniture and/or display items, it is my passion to create smaller, more intricate art pieces. Since I make all
of my items one at a time (instead of mass-producing them on an assembly line), every item is one of a kind.
A LITTLE FRETWORK HISTORY:
The intricate style of scroll sawing, known
as fretwork, has been around and admired for years. Fretwork began more than 3,000 years ago
in Egypt with fretted inlays on furniture. Once a popular and well-known
style of woodcutting, the art of fretwork greatly diminished for many years and has only began to regain popularity among
woodworkers in recent years.
